IMPORTANT:  The highest court in the land has just requested briefing from the U.S. Solicitor General on whether or not it should grant a writ of review in the Rinehart case!!!  Attorney James Buchal reports that if the U.S. Solicitor General files a brief in support of acceptance of the petition, "the chances that the Supreme Court will take the case go up very significantly."

Listen up my fellow nugget heads:  This is the time to forget about whatever Honey Do List you are working on.  If you can write a sentence, or better, if you can afford a stamp and can type a sentence IN YOUR OWN WORDS TO PRESIDENT TRUMP as to how important this case is, then do so NOW.  Don't worry about your grammar or punctuation.  Just express yourself in the unique and genuine way that only you can.  Tell President Trump how you have suffered under your California overseers.  They have taken away a property right that the federal government has guaranteed to you.  There is a relatively short period for the (current) Acting Solicitor General to get his brief filed.  He needs to be told by his boss ASAP how miners feel about the importance of this case so that states like California can't keep prohibiting owners of federal mining rights from operating their own claims on federal lands without any hope of economic survival in areas that largely have few alternative economic opportunities!

Let's not sit on our hands.  Let's get some justice!  Get something in the mail by tomorrow if you possibly can!!

Thanks for listening to my rant.

It looks like our outing that is planned for the weekend of March 11th is shaping up to have some beautiful prospecting weather. Our club's Barstow claims are suitable for drywashing and detecting. It looked for awhile like sluicing and panning might have been appropriate but I think (hope) we're done with the wet nonsense for the time being. The ground should be dry enough that your VLF detectors won't get too squirrely on you. And if you have ever tried to use one when the ground is wet, you know what I mean. By all means, head out on Friday if you can and I will catch up on Saturday the 11th. I plan to be at the Denny's on Main Street at 7am on Saturday if anyone needs guidance out to the claims area. The claims are only about 30 minutes from there and I figure we can caravan out by around 7:40am. This will be a no frills outing, meaning no potluck, no bingo, (let's hope not no gold), but most importantly... no porta potty! So plan accordingly. Any two wheel drive can make it out on the dirt roads to the claims. The best parking for RVs is definitely on the Shamrock Claim. There are a plethora of small motels in town if you choose to spend the nights there. I am really looking forward to this and also to the next outing (dates and venue to be announced) where we will have all the bells and whistles. Plan to attend, but if you can't make it, the next outing will be right around the corner! Any questions, please call me at (562) 999 2428

Our Editor in Chief Martin Milas has been attending the water board public meetings. These meetings are looking for input from interested partys on the states ban on Dredging. He  has spent time and brain power crafting a document to inform the water board on Dredging, Mercury, and more.

The club is planning a Prospecting outing on March 10th thru the 12th at our Barstow area claims hosted by our very own Lucky Joe. . Joe Chmiel will be hosting Friday, Saturday, Sunday,,,, March, 10th, 11th 12th. There is room for a camper or trailer on the shamrock claim, but the club will not have a porta poty this time. No potluck on Saturday but some members will be car pooling into Barstow on Saturday at a local restaurant. You can download the club claims in the area in our claims section. Also there is lots of open ground in the area to nugget shoot. I think it still may be a little wet to drywash, everything depends on the weather that weekend as well.

Our very own "Lucky Joe" will be hosting a prospecting get together at our Barstow Area claims on the weekend of December 10th weather permitting. This is a dry camping area (no water / no restrooms) The roads  are dirt with some dips and brush along the sides, A 2 wheel vehicle can get there and there is parking for a few  RV's on the Shamrock claim. Come on out and enjoy some fresh air and play in dirt. I'll post more info as I get it.

Hear is an update from Lucky Joe

    Joe

    Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! If you are looking to sneak in a prospecting trip between the holidays, PCSC has just the thing lined up... Our December Prospecting Outing! Come and join us at the club's newest claim, The Shamrock. You will need to see for yourself whether the gold is just a leprechaun's myth or whether it is real. But I can tell you it's real because I know there has been a nugget or two lifted off that claim already. Drywashing and detecting would be the preferred methods and there should be plenty of expert advice on hand to be dispensed on either. The weather should be in the low 60s and may be blowing a bit. (But if some overburden is winnowed away then so much the better!) The drive from Barstow proper is about 30 minutes, and unless the roads are extremely muddy, any two-wheel drive vehicle should make it easily. And plenty of room for parking if you are going to haul a trailer. It is always good to be prepared for desert weather, so, well, err... be prepared. We will dispense with the potluck (maybe we can meet in town for dinner Saturday evening) and no bingo, but we will have a corner post setting party (yay!) Seriously, please plan on spending a little bit of time on Saturday helping to locate those posts. Vickie will have the locations determined and we just need some muscle to dig holes. There are several motels in town if you want to stay the night and I hope to see everyone on Friday, Dec. 9th through Sunday, Dec. 11th!

    Lucky Joe

Marvin Blair sent along this E-mail,

A long-time friend of our club, Bill Meers, recently passed away and thought that this information might be appreciated by many of our club members for the November edition of Treasure News.  Information is as follows:

Our fellow club member and friend, William (Bill) Meers, passed away on Tuesday, October 25th after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.  He is survived by his two older brothers, Donald and Robert.  Bill was a passionate metal detectorist and true friend to all.  His kindness and gentle spirit will be missed.

"There will be a brief graveside service at Rose Hills Memorial Park in the Morning Side Garden area, Section 4 on Wednesday, November 16th at 1pm.  Rose Hills Memorial Park is located at 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier 90601."

    Thanks.

    Marvin Blair
