September Gold Prospecting in the Barstow Area

News from our very own Lucky Joe:

September Prospecting Outing

I don't know if the desert will have cooled off by then but those of you who are willing to find out should not miss our September 22,23,24 outing. The Barstow area has been home to hundreds of nuggets which many of our club members have had the pleasure of removing. One club member practically tripped over a sun-baker at our last outing to this area and I'm certain there is much more gold to be had. I think the best chances with a detector in this area is to either dig down to the caliche layer on the Desert Queen Bee to detect among the ironstones or just swing on the surface in the areas surrounding the claims. You won't need 4-wheel drive to get to the claims, which are about 30 minutes out of Barstow. And if you haven't been here before, consider joining us for some good times and good prospecting. I think we can do a potluck on Saturday evening out at the Shamrock around 6pm and just bring a main, side or dessert dish to share. That's all for now and as usual I can be reached at 562-999-2428 for any questions. Joe
