It was a sad day for California Prospectors today.  On August 22, 2016 the California Supreme Court ruled 7-0 that federal law does not preempt the California moratorium on suction dredging, thus reversing the prior favorable Appellate Court Decision and upholding the Superior Court Judgment against Brandon Rinehart.  It is unknown at this time whether a Writ of Certiorari will be sought in the U.S. Supreme Court by Mr. Rinehart. Today's ruling will have a binding effect upon the San Bernardino Superior Court in the consolidated dredge litigation pending there as to the issue of federal preemption.

PCSC will be holding a joint outing on Sept. 23,24 &25 with our sister club, High Desert Gold Diggers at their Gold Digger claim in the Big Bear area.

You can go to www.fs.usda.gov to get all information about the campsites at Holcomb Valley camground.

On Sat night HDGD will provide burgers/dogs and PCSC will provide side dishes for the potluck.

We are also looking for some entertainment to make memories around the campfire. Don't be shy, let's have a great time.

We will need a head count so we can provide enough food.
It has been too long since we have had a joint outing, let's get to know who we share claims with and have a great time, address concerns with both clubs and look forward to future endeavors!

Something weird happened during PCSC's Dale outing May 14th and 15th. But first, the nugget highlights: Prospecting Chair, Lucky Joe (Chmiel), nailed 5 little ones at and near the Orange Peel Patch (on open ground near the Blackjack claim) with his modded GB2; Keith McBride borrowed my modded GB2 and hit two right away; Chuck Brand employed his GPZ 7000 to sleuth out three shiny nuggs (this was Chuck's first visit to the Dale!!); but for me, I uncharacteristically wound up with skunk stripes.

Okay, so here's the spooky part: The Dale can be a harsh place.  The mortality rate amongst the early seekers ran high.  There are stories of ghosts that haunt this remote desert.  I think I may have had just such an encounter.

Chuck and I were the only ones who camped overnight out on the flats (the rest either called it quits Saturday night or drove back to 29 Palms for a comfy motel bed for the night).  I decided to do some night detecting.  By 10PM Chuck was fast asleep a 100 yards away in the bed of his pickup.  That is when I saw it -- errr, "them."  Two luminous eyes staring at me from behind a creosote bush.  At first I thought it was something caused by my headlamp.  But upon shutting it off the eyes continued to glower at me -- big round icey blue eyes widely spaced!!!!  Then, as I cautiously inched around the greasewood branches for a better vantage, the eyes blinked a few times and then suddenly vanished without a sound!!

    WEIRD!!!

Joe Chmiel Announces February Prospecting Outing Details:

The next prospecting outing will be on February 26, 27 & 28. Come join us

for what is sure to be a great weekend. I personally guarantee it to be a beautiful,

mild, sunny, and windless 3 days... or your money back! We will be using the

Pilgrim Claim for parking and event purposes. The club has plenty of nearby

acreage for hunting those elusive gold nuggets. Yes, they are still out there... my

son, Jeffrey, and I both snagged a small one off the club's Red Chispa claim last

weekend. We had a real fun coin hunt last time so I figure to repeat that event

and we will have a Saturday night potluck at 6pm. Bring a dish to share. As

usual, there will be experts (self-proclaimed) on hand for instruction in the use of

detectors and/or drywashers. The drive is easy and 2-wheel drive will get you to

most of the claims. It is very easy access to the Pilgrim for any type of RV. We

should have a couple of nice nights for a campfire so bring some wood along and

    we'll have a great time!
